Hampton — The city council voted to approve rezoning application 25‑0322, allowing a 1,930‑square‑foot, two‑story single‑family home to be built at 1700 East Pembroke (LRS 12003841) after staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval.
Planning manager Melissa Storey told the council the 0.15‑acre site is currently zoned C‑2 (limited commercial) and that proffered conditions include adherence to the conceptual plans, materials and site‑plan approval. Storey said the proposal is consistent with the Buckroe master plan policies and that a community meeting on Jan. 22 produced no negative feedback. An applicant representative, Mr. Tanner, and the applicant’s family spoke in support of the project.
A councilmember moved to approve the rezoning with seven conditions; the motion was seconded and the clerk called the roll. Councilman Bowman, Vice Mayor Brown, Councilwoman Campbell, Councilwoman Farrabee, Councilwoman Harper, Councilwoman Mugler and Mayor Gray voted "Aye," and the rezoning was approved.
