The Reno Planning Commission voted Aug. 5 to approve case LDC26-00101, an application by South Wales Auto Service & Repair. The item was pulled from the consent agenda and considered after a staff presentation and questions from commissioners.
Commissioners asked whether overnight vehicle staging would require street parking or increase alleyway activity. Jeff Foster, an associate planner, said the site is largely a fenced lot and that the on-site area provides sufficient space. "In terms of staging vehicles overnight... there would be plenty of room within that fenced area such that there would not be any requirement or any need for parking any vehicles on the street," Foster said. Commissioner Becerra moved to support the project and a second was received; the commission voted unanimously in favor.
The decision concludes the local land-use step for this specific business use; any permits tied to building, operations or public safety will be subject to subsequent building-permit and code reviews.
