Board members used their reports to highlight summer programs and to thank the district staff running them. Trustee Doug described visits to Conway Academy and Mission Middle School, praised student engagement and the Maker Faire, and noted students were learning entrepreneurial and technical skills in summer classes.
Mark and other trustees added recognition of classified staff who worked extended overtime through the summer to prepare campuses; Mark said the number of overtime hours was "staggering" and thanked those teams for their effort. Superintendent Andy McGuire described summer operations, custodial and maintenance schedules, community partners (YMCA and Boys and Girls Club), and plans for a leadership summit and upcoming curriculum pilots in literacy, math and computer science.
Trustees emphasized the value of hands-on electives and pilots in computer science and artificial intelligence that were tested during summer school; the superintendent said the district will roll out additional mini-lessons and leadership presentations ahead of the fall term.
