Task force votes to require Regional 1 to present written good‑faith effort processes

During discussion of contractor good‑faith efforts, Chef Shep Wilburn explained the county's existing good‑faith effort matrix and the need to document outreach and scoring so MWBE goals are defensible. "There are certainly each parts of the matrix is accorded certain points," Wilburn said, and cautioned that scoring can be adjusted to avoid manipulation.
Commissioner JW Gibson moved that Regional 1 be required to "put forth written processes or verify their good faith effort initiative and to utilize their consultant in helping to draw that process up." The motion was seconded by Shep Wilburn. Chair Commissioner Brooks called for the vote and announced, "Those opposed, ayes have it." The task force approved the motion and members discussed next steps for drafting and coordinating the written process with Regional 1 and the disparity consultant.
