Phenix City sets demolition hearings and special assessments for four substandard properties

The clerk read the apparent low bidders and bid amounts included dumping fees: Elite Hauling and Landwork was listed for several addresses with bids of $3,150.00 and $4,225.00 for listed parcels; J and J Land Development Inc. was listed at $9,800.00 for one parcel. The resolution sets the date to fix the cost and consider special assessments for 09/01/2026 at 9:00 a.m. in council chambers, and the clerk said that notice will be mailed as required by law and published in the Citizen-News of East Alabama.
The resolution states demolition costs will be levied as a special assessment and become a lien collected through the Russell County revenue commissioner's office; parcel identification numbers and owner names are included in the public notices attached to the resolution. The clerk advised property owners to appear at the September hearing to object if they have grounds to do so.
