Escondido Union board approves special-education settlement and names two new elementary principals

The Escondido Union School District board on July 1 reported a 5–0 vote to approve a special-education settlement in OAH case no. 2026020751 and approved two principal appointments that will take effect July 1, 2026.
Board designee read the closed-session actions, saying the board "voted to approve the special education settlement agreement by a vote of 5 to 0" and that the board also approved the appointment of Ted Bridal as principal at Rock Springs Elementary School by the same margin. Following the report, Bridal addressed the board and community, saying, "I am incredibly honored to accept the offer to be the new principal of Rock Springs Elementary School. For 58 years, Escondido has been my home community... I am ready to get amped for greatness about our future together." Bridal thanked Elizabeth Ramirez for transitional support and said he will sustain the school's redesign and the EUSD learning model.
The board also approved the appointment of Pablo Charren as principal at Central Elementary School, effective July 1. Charren told the board he and his family are long-time Escondido residents and said he "looks forward to meeting students, staff, parents, and the central community" and to fostering an environment where every student feels valued.
Actions recorded in the meeting minutes list the settlement approval and both personnel appointments as formal actions of the board. The meeting packet lists the effective dates for the appointments as 07/01/2026; no additional contract terms were discussed during the public presentation.
