The Almani Union High School District Board of Trustees recognized two groups of students June 10. The board presented a certificate and lapel pin to Kiana Gallegos of Mountain View High School for receiving the 2026 Shirley Abrams Attendance Improvement Award from the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Kiana thanked staff and identified teachers by name for their support.
Later the board recognized the Rosemead High School speech and debate team for placing in the Southern California Debate League championships. Coach Ian Duong and advisor Michelle Tan described results including a 3rd-place overall finish for emerging programs and a first-place duo (Allison Mixtav and Matthew Lou). Multiple student leaders (Lucy Doan, Nathan Lai, Lisonbee Mick Sab, Emma Tov) spoke about leadership and educational equity. The board presented certificates and lapel pins to students and coaches.
