Waynesville manager reports on well tests, street work and festival prep

Village Manager and Director of Public Safety Chief Copeland delivered routine operational updates on Oct. 7, noting near-term public-works projects and festival preparations.
Copeland reported that Well 10 water samples "came back good," and that Choice One is preparing engineering drawings to connect the new well to the village’s water system. He said Fed Excavating is finishing catch-basin replacements and will asphalt later this week except for one location that will wait until after the Sauerkraut Festival to avoid disrupting a main thoroughfare. Brian Corn from the Street Department repaired curbs on Main Street ahead of the event. Copeland also noted the village is ranked #3 in Warren County for the PY39 OPWC Fourth Street project and has a strong chance of receiving that grant. Leaf pickup was announced to start on Monday, Oct. 14.
On public-safety logistics, Copeland told council he anticipates traffic issues because of a one-lane closure on the Route 73 bridge and said Hoffman parking lot access will be right-in/right-out during the festival. Trick-or-Treating is set for Oct. 31 from 6:00–8:00 p.m.; extra patrols are planned.
