At the June 17 Public Safety Committee meeting the panel approved the listed minutes and handled three substantive items: (1) a scoping briefing on a downtown quiet-zone pilot (3A), (2) a citywide loud-music and loud-vehicle enforcement presentation (3C), and (3) a review of policies on random gunshot complaints (3B). The committee approved the minutes at the start of the meeting; a committee member moved to approve and Chair Chris Ott seconded, and the chair said the minutes were approved.
Committee direction included ending the funded downtown overtime pilot in favor of a citywide enforcement emphasis and public-outreach campaign produced by PMR; staff will return to council with a briefing on the gunshot-response analysis. The chair also thanked outgoing committee member Margaret Luck and welcomed incoming council member Seiko Vano before adjourning at 10:07 a.m.
