Commission outlines summer events calendar; no commission table for downtown Red, White & U

Chair reviewed the commission calendar and told members the commission did not secure a table for the downtown Red, White & U celebration (June 20) because the commission missed earlier sign‑ups; members were encouraged to volunteer with other city groups instead. "If there is a question as to whether we will have a table there or not, the answer is going to be no," the chair said, and asked members to email staff if they want to volunteer with another organization.
Members also highlighted upcoming events: the All Abilities Committee meets at Garland Central Library, Urban Market downtown runs evenings from 5–10 p.m., and the Miss Asia America International pageant is scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at the Atrium from 5–10 p.m. Staff and commissioners agreed to circulate an updated calendar and event flyers via the city contact (Darcy) so volunteers know when and where to help.
