The Hinsdale Historic Preservation Commission approved an application for a certificate of appropriateness to construct a new single-family home at 722 South Park in the Robins Park Historic District.
Richard Olsen, the project architect, described the design as a side-gable colonial revival with a single-story wing, a widow's walk and decorative railing. "It's gonna be Pennsylvania fieldstone," Olsen said when asked about the facade material, and he added that the roof will be slate. Commissioners repeatedly praised the design as fitting the streetscape and one commissioner said the house could be a candidate for a future preservation award.
In response to a question about schedule, Olsen estimated a construction timeline of about 16 months, said permit revisions are in and that construction could begin within roughly a month. The commission closed the public hearing, then moved and voted to approve the certificate of appropriateness by recorded roll call. No conditions beyond standard permit compliance were recorded at the hearing.
