Kalkaska County approves employment agreement for Patrick Whiteford as Administrator/CFO

The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners on July 15 approved an employment agreement with Patrick Whiteford to serve as County Administrator/CFO, with the contract "approved to form by counsel" and the board specifying that the full paycheck would begin on July 31, 2026 and that vacation accrual be corrected to 20 days.
The board also approved paying Whiteford a $6,000 stipend to perform IT and IT-Committee services. The stipend motion (moved by Jeff Sieting and supported by Scott Matley) passed by roll call (7–0). In public input after the vote, Patrick Whiteford addressed the board and said he appreciated the appointment and "will be preparing to start Monday 7-20-2026" and that he would meet with department heads and the board to follow up on outstanding matters. The minutes therefore record both the contract term that sets the full paycheck to begin on July 31 and Whiteford's stated plan to begin preparations the week of July 20.
