Grand Prairie Libraries launch 2026 Summer Reading Club with 1980s theme and Beanstack sign-ups

More than 500 people attended the Grand Prairie Public Library's launch of the 2026 Summer Reading Club at the main library, the presenter said. "Our theme this year is reading is totally rad and we are throwing it back to the eighties," a staff member said, describing programming that includes music, fashion, iconic movie and TV characters to engage participants.
Library staff and presenters explained how to sign up and log reading using the Beanstack app. A presenter summarized the rewards structure: once a child logs five hours of reading they can receive a free book, a prize from the treasure box, or a coupon; rewards are available for teens and adults as well. The presenter said the Summer Reading Club runs at all three Grand Prairie library locations through August 8 and directed listeners to gptx.org/library for details.
