Fire Chief John Renfrew recommended the Selectboard accept a bid from Claremont Ford to supply the chassis for approximately $67,200 and use Dingee Machine Company to build and outfit the body, saying the "total package will come in under the $125,000 budgeted for the truck." The board voted to authorize the Fire Chief to place the order this week before new season pricing takes effect (motion by Chair Susan Culp; second by Shauna Prime). One older truck will be offered for sale and the other retained in service.
Renfrew also reported that six Newbury firefighters and mutual aid companies responded to a recent brush fire in New Hampshire and noted that Newbury firefighters "receive the lowest pay in the area," a personnel concern attendees discussed but did not resolve at the meeting. The board returned later in the agenda to clarify paint options for the vehicle before finalizing order details.
