Board member Joanne Marsden reported out of the Insurance Sub-Committee that the district's health insurance renewal shows a cost increase slightly over 15%—the largest jump in nearly a decade—and that the SEA and PSRP contracts require reviewing plan-design changes and potential savings when increases exceed 15%.
Marsden said the committee asked EBC to return in the fall with data to evaluate options including a smaller PPO network and carving out GLP1 (weight-loss) drugs to reduce costs; any changes would target the July 1, 2027 renewal and would follow the district's past process for evaluating savings measures.
