Summary
The Village of Shorewood awarded a $1,008,070 contract to Van Mac Electric for the US‑52 Windstone traffic signal project; public works said the bid came in about 11% over budget but an additional $250,000 grant will help offset the overage and equipment lead times push signal erection to early next year.

The village board on April 22 awarded the contract for the US‑52 Windstone traffic signal project to Van Mac Electric for $1,008,070. Public works staff told the board the single apparent low bid is approximately 11% over the project's original budget and noted long procurement lead times for traffic‑signal equipment.
"This is approximately 11% over budget," Public Works Director Noriel said while explaining the award and schedule. Staff said they received an additional $250,000 in DCEO grant funding this week that will reduce the net impact to the village. Public works recommended beginning construction in late May with major hard‑surface work completed by November; signal equipment, because of 35–38 week lead times, is expected to arrive and be erected in February–March of next year. The motion to award the contract passed on a roll call vote.
