Daniel Hoffman, a Shorewood resident of 19 years, addressed the board during the citizen-comment period to press for enforcement of the village's noise-control ordinance.
"Shorewood does have a noise control ordinance. It's, chapter 4 or chapter 6, section 4 6 dot 1 to control, noises and it even goes so far as to dictate which noises are loud or perhaps unacceptable," Hoffman said, adding that he shared recordings that contrasted birdsong with "commercial lawn equipment cutting" that he said was "loud, excessive." He asked the board to require contractors to confirm what equipment they use and to ensure motors and blowers are properly muffled.
Hoffman said residents are reluctant to call police over noise complaints and asked the board to find a solution that avoids repeated 911 calls. The village did not announce immediate new enforcement steps during the meeting; the matter was entered on the public record for possible follow-up.
