The Byron-Bergen Board received the fall athletics report at its Nov. 14 meeting. Girls soccer won a GR League title and a Class C2 Section V championship and will advance to the NYS Final Four; boys soccer finished second in the GR League and were Section V championship finalists. Other sports highlighted included volleyball (GR League title) and gymnastics (top-six in Section V).
In cross-country, both boys and girls teams placed eighth in their sectional fields; Evan Phillips placed fifth and qualified for the New York State championships at Queensbury High School. Football completed its season with a first-round playoff loss at Avon, while game-day cheer and gymnastics also reported competitive seasons.
