Senior Center events, fire calls and upcoming programs highlighted

Councilman Paul Trunzo reported 39 fire calls in April, bringing the year-to-date total to 198, and announced the Annual Street Fair scheduled for July 18–19, 2025 with a parade on July 19 at 5:00 p.m.
Councilwoman Meghan DeVerse and Senior Center staff described recent and upcoming senior programming: a "Better Together" event on March 22 that drew about 75 attendees, a Senior Safe Driving class on May 12 with 22 participants (eligible for a 5% insurance discount), a Catapult Pittsburgh speaker on May 29 about deeds and wills, and free computer classes starting June 16 for people aged 55 and over. The Senior Center will close for election day on May 20.
Council indicated the Senior Center received compensation for hosting events and that some programming resulted from the Age Friendly Greater Pittsburgh network through Jamie Trunzo's participation.
