Kirkland public works reports hydrant leak, equipment needs and plans for a surplus auction

Public Works Supervisor Jim Stark briefed the board on routine winter maintenance and identified specific repair and equipment needs. Staff located and isolated a leak from an old hydrant at 207 North Street, thawed a frozen sampling spigot and an airline for Well #3, and reported ongoing plowing and shop work.
"Found a 6-foot circle of water which had leaked out of a hydrant at 207 North Street which is one of the oldest hydrants in town (1895) and due to be replaced," the public works report states. Stark also said the department will need new tires on the red F350 and the water truck in a few months and is pursuing recertification options for the boom truck. The board instructed staff to prepare a surplus list with VIN/serial numbers and noted that selling surplus items via an online bidding site will require an ordinance to be passed beforehand.
