Skokie SD 69 sub-committee finalizes language for 2026–2031 strategic plan; advances plan to board for adoption

The Strategic Plan sub-committee of the Skokie School District 69 Board of Education completed the Plan Refinement phase on Feb. 26, 2026 and advanced the district's 2026–2031 Strategic Plan to Phase 3: Finalization. The meeting, convened virtually and opened by Board Member Devin Savage at 5:32 p.m., was facilitated by specialists from West40 and attended by district leaders and staff.
Committee members and West40 facilitators confirmed that each of the plan's four focus areas'Student Achievement; Learning Environment; Resource Management; and Family & Community Engagement'will contain one clear five-year goal supported by aligned strategies. The sub-committee emphasized strengthening strategic alignment and ensuring coherence with the district's Mission, Vision and Essential Elements of Equity, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Communication. Dr. Margaret Clauson, the district superintendent, was present in the Maier Administration Center Board Room to provide a publicly accessible location during the virtual meeting.
District staff and attendees recorded on the meeting roster included Kristyn Bair (Secretary), Lisa Khabeer (Member), Dr. Megan Aseltine (Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning), Dr. Sonali Patil (Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance), and multiple teachers, parents and program directors. West40 professional learning specialists Nimisha Bhatt and Anna Mae Grams Pullappally are listed as facilitators of the Plan Refinement work.
The committee clarified next steps: the plan will move to Phase 3 for final edits and then to the full Board for adoption. The Board review and approval of the 2026'2031 Strategic Plan are scheduled for March 18, 2026. The sub-committee adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
