Shorewood awards nearly $3M water-main contract and OKs $313K engineering services

Public-works staff presented the Park Shore water-main replacement as the next phase of the village’s water-main program, describing the work as replacing roughly 6,200 linear feet of 6- and 8-inch ductile iron pipe with new 12-inch PVC pipe between Black and U.S. 52. "We are replacing approximately 6,200 linear feet of existing 6 and 8 inch ductile iron pipe between black and US 52 with new 12 inch PVC pipe," staff said.
Conley Excavating submitted the lowest responsible bid at $2,999,756.50, about 21% below the engineer’s estimate; trustees approved the contract and then approved a separate not-to-exceed $313,400 contract for Christopher B. Burke Engineering to provide phase-3 construction services and oversight. Construction is expected to begin in May with substantial completion by December 2025, according to staff.
