Shorewood approves conditional use for Alpha Truck Services with amended hours and no-idling requirement

The Shorewood Village Board on May 13 approved a conditional-use permit allowing Alpha Truck Services to operate a truck and trailer repair facility at 205 Earl, subject to multiple conditions intended to protect neighboring residences.
Planning staff described the proposal and the conditions in detail: repairs must be performed indoors with doors closed, no outdoor storage of parts or scrap, designated truck parking (Alpha will be assigned 13 semi-truck spaces), and an eight-foot privacy fence along property lines. Planning staff said the business expects to perform about five trucks per weekday and would normally operate 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on weekdays and until 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Planning staff summarized the permit conditions and enforcement expectations.
Trustee Luciano moved to amend the ordinance to set weekday hours to 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and to remove the cited allowance for 10 minutes of truck idling outside; "I'll make the motion then, for approval of an ordinance and conditional use for ... amending the hours from 8 till 5 and also amending no idling in the, outside," he said. The board approved the motion and then approved the ordinance as amended by roll call.
