Mayor Clarence C. DeBold read an Arbor Day proclamation declaring April 25, 2025 Arbor Day in Shorewood, saying the observance traces to a proposal by J. Sterling Morton in 1872 and urging residents to “plant trees to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of this and for future generations.” Finance staff accepted a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024; a finance representative said the award program recognizes governments that go beyond minimum accounting requirements and that Shorewood has won the recognition for nearly two decades.
