The board approved an intergovernmental agreement to collaborate with Niles Township High School District 219 and its Collaborative for Curriculum (CFC) on a K–8 literacy review. Administration said the collaborative will provide professional development, curriculum planning support and potential cost-saving purchases because the districts use similar curricular materials.
Christie, participating in the discussion, said a literacy leadership team has already attended a workshop. "We are...moving forward with the literacy review," she said, and administration noted some immediate savings opportunities through shared materials. The superintendent said board members are asked to attend steering-committee meetings three times a year and that administration will update the board as details are finalized.
The board approved the agreement on voice/roll call.
