County Home Superintendent Dawn Faux told the commissioners the facility will hold its 18th annual open house on Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring food, entertainment and a chili cook-off with prizes. The event will include a first-time flower and vegetable judging contest and free activities for families.
Faux also said the county home is hiring a full-time and/or part-time nurse aide for the 3-to-11 and 11-to-7 shifts; no experience is required and starting pay is $15.50. She encouraged interested applicants to contact the facility and noted that donated livestock and produce from a recent fair have helped feed residents.
