Sky Mountain charter reports growth to Lucerne Valley board; IEM founder speaks

Shauna Fis reported Sky Mountain’s current enrollment at 2,715 students with 481 on the prospective list and said the charter has 173 active employees. “Currently, we have 2,715 students with 481 on our prospective list,” she said, noting the charter’s growth and the return to school-specific kickoff meetings this year.
The presentation covered curriculum tools and interventions (including a dyslexia screener and tiered interventions), the charter’s virtual academy offerings, and plans for family engagement and athletics. Board members and district staff responded with appreciation for the partnership and for Sky Mountain’s role in regional school choice options.
The board also heard remarks from IEM founder Randy Gashler, introduced by the Sky Mountain delegation, who reflected on the charter’s early years and ongoing collaboration with the district. No action was taken on the presentation; the item was informational.
