Board confirms Bulmaro Ruiz as Stevenson High interim principal; search for permanent principal to begin

Bulmaro Ruiz was listed in the consent agenda as Stevenson High School interim principal and the consent agenda motion carrying at the meeting finalized the hire. When asked to introduce himself, Ruiz said he previously taught in the Toppenish School District and is working toward superintendent credentials. "He truly believes that if kids are treated as individuals they will thrive," the board heard as Ruiz described his educational approach.
Superintendent Ingrid Colvard said the district will post the permanent high school principal position by spring break and that community members, staff and students will participate in the selection process alongside board members. Colvard thanked community members and staff who helped Ruiz transition into the interim role. The board did not take further action on the permanent hire at this meeting.
