School board approves consent for Crown Castle/AT&T equipment upgrades at Langley Elementary

The Hampton School Board on Aug. 5 approved a consent/lease item allowing Crown Castle and AT&T to upgrade a portion of the equipment on an existing cell tower located on the Langley Elementary School property.
Dr. Bolin introduced the item, saying the "proposed upgrade will not increase the company's physical footprint, alter tower structure, or modify the terms and conditions of the current agreement." Administration told the board the improvements are intended to enhance network performance and capacity while remaining compliant with existing lease requirements.
Board members asked whether the district would receive additional revenue from the equipment changes. Dr. Bolin replied that "under the current agreement, no" additional profit is due to the division for these upgrades unless the company increases its footprint or adds equipment beyond existing allowances.
The board moved the item from deliberation to action and approved the consent/lease by voice vote. Chair Dr. Richard Mason called the motion passed after all members voted in favor.
