At its Jan. 8 meeting, the Huachuca City Council moved through consent and new business items in a series of unanimous votes. The consent agenda (minutes from Dec. 11, 2025, and a payment approval report) was approved on a motion moved by Johann Wallace and seconded by Cynthia Butterworth.
The council unanimously approved authorization to draft ordinances to align firearms-related code sections with state law, to prepare animal-code amendments, authorized approximately $47,282.63 in repairs to the town Caterpillar D6 dozer/tractor, and authorized a letter of support for a proposed Cochise County animal shelter. The town attorney also noted upcoming election dates and filing rules: the general election is Nov. 3, 2026, voter registration closes Oct. 5, 2026, and early voting rules (ARS §16-542(C)) apply. The meeting adjourned by unanimous vote.
