City Manager Joshua Bake presented staff findings from a meeting with Boys Baseball representatives — Brandon Hollenbeck (group president) and CJ Nebeker — recommending that Boys Baseball lease the concession stand and sublease to Eschler’s Pit Stop, with the lease payment donated back to Boys Baseball. The proposal also notes Boys Baseball will manage both boys' baseball and girls' recreation softball this year.
Councilman D. Busenbark raised a procedural concern about whether donated lease payments would be returned only to Boys Baseball or distributed to other city-run recreation programs; he also questioned differences in staff effort across programs and urged fees be reasonable for families. Mr. Bake and others noted that Vernal's comparable programs operate under a recreation district rather than municipal administration, a structural difference the council should consider when comparing fees and operations. No formal lease agreement or council vote was recorded at the work session.
