Resident says Circle K crosswalk is unsafe after daughter was struck, urges fixes

At the Jan. 8 Huachuca City Council meeting, residents urged immediate action on a pedestrian crossing near the Circle K at 500 N. Gonzales Blvd, saying existing lights are not visible to drivers.
Lonnie Brock told the council the lights at the crosswalk "are not visible," and asked the town to install a safer crossing. Tami Ackerson said her daughter was struck while using the crosswalk properly, adding, "Cars do not see the lights and stop." The comments were made during the meeting's open call to the public.
Mayor Johann Wallace said the crosswalk has been receiving attention and that he expects a meeting with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) soon to discuss possible improvements. The council did not take formal action on the matter at the meeting but discussed next steps and follow-up with ADOT.
