Parks & Arts Commission approves amended tentative budget for 2027 to send to mayor and council

At the Aug. 3 meeting the Parks & Arts Commission voted unanimously to approve the Parks & Arts budget sheet as amended for inclusion in the city's preliminary 2027 budget. Laura moved the motion and Joanie seconded; Chair Nancy Hill called the vote and said, “Please show that the, the budget has, passed unanimously.”
The commission structured priorities around a baseline maintenance line, programming, beautification and a $60,000 carousel-art line item that commissioners said should remain funded if possible. Members agreed to move the Smarty Board project to 2028 and to prepare a prioritized, numbered list of projects that staff can present to council if cuts are proposed during council budget review.
