The San Juan Economic Development Corporation voted to join the RGV Hispanic Chamber as a corporate partner at the $2,000 level, a move the chamber representative said is common among local economic development corporations.
A representative of the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce described the organization as the regional chamber for the Rio Grande Valley — covering Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties — and highlighted partnerships with SBDC, UTRGV and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The representative said EDCs commonly join at the $2,000 level and offered to promote San Juan events, host workshops in the city and provide other services.
The President entertained a motion to join as a corporate partner; the motion was seconded and the President called the vote, which is recorded in the meeting transcript as passing. The chamber representative left copies of their corporate partner materials for board review.
