Council approves interim engineering services, hires contract engineer through Dec. 31

The council authorized the town administrator to finalize and execute a professional services agreement with Interim Public Management to provide temporary contract engineering services through Dec. 31, 2026, in an amount not to exceed $60,000.
Staff said the town's incumbent engineer is resigning, and that the proposed interim engineer (available through the vendor and known to the town) would work in-house about three days a week to perform development review, coordinate capital projects, review drainage and grading reports, and provide technical support to staff and the council. "We're hiring someone to actually do the work that our town engineer is doing... we're leasing an employee rather than hiring a consultant," the presenter said. The town emphasized the arrangement will be funded from salary-and-benefit savings from the existing position and that the cap may be reached earlier or later depending on usage.
The motion to authorize the contract passed unanimously; staff will manage the schedule and usage to balance service needs and the contract cap.
