The council considered several liquor-license requests on Aug. 4 and approved the recommendations on the consent calendar. A representative for BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse said the building is not yet fully built-out and staff confirmed that city approvals can be granted but the license will not be issued until building inspectors, the Joliet Fire Department and health department have signed off.
Council members discussed whether to table the BJ's approval until final inspections; staff confirmed the usual practice is to approve but hold issuance until all inspections are complete. Council then approved the licenses for BJ's (Class B), Angelita's Mexican Bar & Cuisine (Class E), and Tacos LTO Number 11 (Class E) by recorded voice votes.
