Skokie SD 69 and unions secure larger district share of dependent HMO premiums

Ms. Nancy Bellosa, EBC account representative, reviewed recently negotiated improvements to employer health insurance contributions achieved through collective bargaining. "The Board and both unions worked collaboratively to increase the District contribution to 60% of HMO premiums for all dependent coverage levels. This contribution will increase to 70% effective July 1, 2026," Bellosa said.
Dr. Margaret Clauson and committee members described the increase as the result of bargaining and noted it will affect dependent coverage cost-sharing for employees beginning immediately and further on July 1, 2026. Staff indicated they will account for the change in the district's benefits budget and report financial impacts during future reviews.
