Skokie SD 69 tentatively selected for 21st CCLC grant to expand after-school and summer programming

Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson told the Board that the Community Schools Department's application was tentatively selected for the FY26 Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, subject to satisfactory completion of the Merit Based Review and compliance with the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act. The application requested $450,000 per year for three years to fund after-school and summer programming across all district schools.
"This funding will provide a total of $450,000 annually for three years for after-school and summer programs at all three schools to increase students' academic and social-emotional growth," Dr. Clauson said. Administration said the award, if finalized, would allow the district to restore a full-day summer program (adding a half-day of enrichment) and preserve a broader range of after-school opportunities beginning Fall 2026, although the final award amount will be confirmed through state processes.
