Maple Girls Volleyball honored by school board after Grow tournament win

The Maple School District Board of Trustees formally recognized the Maple Girls Volleyball Team at its Nov. 14 meeting, with Coach Sara Watts praising the players’ talent and camaraderie.
"They practice four hours weekly," Watts said, and teammate Celeste Gonzales highlighted the squad’s sportsmanship and representation of the "Mustang way." Team members Shayla Rodriguez and Kennedy spoke to the value of the gym facilities and the board’s support; Shayla thanked coaches and administrators for a season that included winning the Grow tournament.
Superintendent Bryan Easter introduced the group and MOT Director John Campbell described his emotional reaction to the team’s success. Board President Joel Ackerknecht emphasized character, saying the program helps build integrity and makes the community proud.
The recognition was presented during the regular meeting convened at 4:32 p.m.; the board did not take any formal action related to athletics beyond the acknowledgement.
