Council schedules CDBG public hearing and housing-action-plan work session

City staff asked the council to schedule two upcoming public meetings: a required public hearing to support a CDBG application and a work session to set goals for the housing action plan.
Staff said the CDBG hearing will provide required public notice and an opportunity for comment on a proposed sidewalk rehabilitation project in an income-surveyed area; the council scheduled the hearing for Aug. 17, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. "It is the required process to apply for the grant," staff said while explaining the purpose of the hearing and the required inclusion of hearing transcripts in the grant application.
Staff also briefed the council on the kickoff of the housing-action-plan steering committee and recommended a preliminary council work session facilitated by the Public Policy Management Center (PPMC) at Wichita State University to outline council goals and expectations. Council scheduled the work session for Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m.
