The McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved multiple zoning and land-use items on June 23 and forwarded them to the City Council for final action on July 21, 2026. The decisions included approvals for a specific-use permit for an Enterprise auto-rental, a planned development (PD) for a single-family project on County Road 161, rezoning of 8301 West University Drive to C2, rezoning of 1710 Couch Drive from ML to I2 to allow outdoor storage, and zoning of roughly 57 acres at 4905 County Road 317 to R12.
Commissioners voted on each item by voice and recorded a 7–0 tally on every motion. The meeting also included a procedural action: staff requested that the public hearing for a site plan for a religious assembly at South Tennessee Street and East Davis Street be tabled because the applicant had incomplete exhibits; the commission voted to continue that hearing to the July 14 meeting.
