Chris, a county maintenance presenter, told the Management Services Committee that Valley Glass Company of Bradley inspected damage to the courthouse curtain-wall and provided a written estimate to replace the glass and associated framing. He said earlier contractors either declined to bid or did not respond; Valley Glass "seemed very professional" and "were more than happy to come look at it," he said.
Chris told the committee Valley Glass will bring samples of the glass and aluminum to match the existing curtain wall as soon as possible. Committee members raised questions about timing, access for equipment to reach the second floor and temporary closure of the south entrance during work; the committee agreed to defer authorization and have finance staff and county officials review estimates and insurance coverage at the upcoming finance meeting before approving repairs.
