Developer pitches curated tenant mix and 'place‑making' for Oakland Town Center

Developer Alex Reese said the team envisions an Oakland Town Center that reads more like Winter Garden or Winter Park, not a typical strip center. "We've tried to do something very much like a winter garden feel or a winter park feel to this," Reese said, and noted mitigation work with St. Johns Water Management during the site's long development timeline.
Alexi (leasing lead) told the board the team is seeking a mix of new-to-market and local concepts — health and wellness brands, curated breakfast concepts and boutique restaurants — and emphasized the goal of bringing tenants that create gathering places and courtyards rather than just national chains. Applicant counsel Logan Absol said the assemblage yields about 11 buildings and roughly 84,020 square feet of tenant space and stressed pedestrian connectivity and amenity features in the design.
