District says IAR testing completed for math and reading; science testing after spring break; board adopts new ELA materials

During staff reports the board also acted on curriculum purchases. The board approved a Zaner Bloser SuperKids elementary ELA curriculum for $37,841.25 and a Sebas MyPerspectives junior high ELA curriculum for $76,786.70. Both motions were moved, seconded and carried.
Dr. Kwosney described incentive efforts used during testing—tickets given for careful student work that were redeemed for snacks—plus a planned post-testing incentive trip to Hollywood Park on April 20 for qualifying students. Board members said they appreciated the materials' EL supports and the parent night held for textbook adoption.
