Board approves auctioneer contract with negotiated changes and dissolves Fort Pickett LRA

Separately, the board adopted a resolution to discontinue the Fort Pickett Local Redevelopment Authority and direct staff to begin legal steps to retitle property now held by the LRA into the county’s name. Board members described the consolidation as a way to remove an additional layer of bureaucracy and to facilitate quicker property sales for economic development and county needs. Staff said title work may take longer for some parcels, but the board directed administrators to begin conveyances where possible so pending sales (including the auction) can proceed.
