The City of McKinney council approved a specific-use permit (SUP) to allow Lifted Trucks to expand auto-related operations at 900 North Central Expressway, including additional parking and vehicle canopies. Planning Director Lucas Raley told the council the site had been an existing nonconforming auto-related site; demolition of a former building and an expansion of on-site vehicle storage triggered the need for a new SUP.
"This site existed prior to the requirement for an S U P for auto related uses...so that's why they need the SUP this evening," Lucas Raley said during his presentation, noting Planning & Zoning and staff recommended approval after a unanimous P&Z vote. Applicant Kai Clark of Lifted Trucks attended and answered council questions; no members of the public spoke for or against the item.
Councilman Clouettier moved to close the public hearing and approve the item; Councilman Jones seconded. The council recorded the motion approved 6-0.
The SUP will allow the expanded vehicle display/storage areas and canopy structures at the 900 N. Central Expressway site; the ordinance accompanying the SUP passed on first consideration at the meeting.
