The proclamation recited Diaz’s years of work at Finch and Malvern elementary schools and his long service at Old Settlers Recreation Center.
"Now, therefore, I, Rick Franklin, by the power vested in me as mayor pro tem and on behalf and on behalf of mayor Bill Cox of the city of McKinney, Texas, do hereby recognize 07/10/2026 as Mr. Arthur Day in McKinney, Texas, in honor of Arturo Lopez Diaz," Franklin said as he read the proclamation. The proclamation noted Diaz’s birth in Corpus Christi on July 10, 1961, his move to McKinney as a child, 37 years of service as a custodian, and his role as a father and grandfather.
Family members and council members briefly exchanged thanks and took photos after the proclamation. The council then moved on to the rest of its agenda.
