Dr. Martin Casas presented first readings of instructional materials: new editions for AP Environmental Science and AP World History and curriculum revisions for biology (to meet updated UC/CSU lab requirements), ELD (increased rigor and supports intended to help long-term English learners reclassify), and theater arts (alignment to new California arts standards).
Casas explained AP textbooks must be updated every 10 years to preserve College Board designation; the materials have passed the district's adoption process (piloting and subject-area review) and will be available for public preview at school offices. The board had no objections and the items will return next month for final adoption votes.
