Board signals consensus to align San Pasqual lighting and to poll community on a potential bond

Amanda Phillips, the district's facilities lead, presented an inventory of athletic lighting and a districtwide estimate to retrofit fields. She said the total, "across the board, it would be $5,000,000 estimate," with line-item estimates (e.g., about $1.6 million for four baseball fields and about $1.1 million for tennis).
Board members raised neighborhood impacts, the district's master-plan priorities and safety concerns about field maintenance. Board president Christy Knight urged seizing the "window of opportunity" created by a private donation at San Pasqual so related baseball and practice-field lighting could be aligned. The board reached consensus for staff to pursue a community poll to test bond appetite and to bring a resolution and contract back to the board, and staff said polling would cost about $25,000–$30,000 and take roughly 60 days to produce results.
