"It is almost been a month. It was a tragic thing," said Martha Sue Monroe, who asked the council to explain why the pool reopened quickly and to provide a formal account of what happened and what corrective measures will be taken.

One councilmember related attendance at the child's funeral and said staff and leadership were being deliberate in verifying facts: "The first thing we don't do is come out to the citizens...we make sure that we have all the details right when we do it," the councilmember said, adding that the city is taking the matter seriously. The mayor and council thanked the resident for raising concerns and asked staff to follow up with appropriate information to the public.
